The British police are preparing to deal with violent protests as anarchists threaten to bring chaos to the Group of 20 summit meeting in London.

All leave for police officers in the capital has been called off and businesses are being advised to cancel unnecessary meetings because protesters have vowed to target the financial district as the world leaders gather to discuss the financial crisis.

Previous world economic summit meetings and conferences have been targeted by anarchists, anti-globalization protesters and other groups. The police say they fear that the gathering April 2 in London, set against anger at the economic downturn, could provoke more violence.

Environmentalists, antiwar campaigners and protesters have already indicated that they would demonstrate April 1 as politicians and officials begin arriving in London.

A movement called “Storm the Banks” is circulating on the Internet indicating that anti-capitalist protesters are planning to focus their attention on the Bank of England during what some protesters have dubbed “Financial Fools Day.”

‘You are Fighting a Religious War Against Gentiles’:

What Rabbis Told Israeli Soldiers in Gaza War ‘Rabbis in the Israeli army told battlefield troops in January’s Gaza offensive that they were fighting a ‘religious war’ against gentiles, it has been revealed. An army commander wrote of the shocking command in an Israeli newspaper today – one day after it emerged that Israeli soldiers were told they could kill innocent civilians during the war. ‘Their message was very clear: we are the Jewish people, we came to this land by a miracle, God brought us back to this land and now we need to fight to expel the gentiles who are interfering with our conquest of this holy land,’ the commander said.’

Why Are We Not Free to Chalk up a Protest? ‘Rarely has there been a more pathetic arrest than that of 23-year-old university student Paul Saville, who was confronted by four members of Britain’s new breed of petty minded police officers after writing in chalk on a pavement, “Liberty: the right to question. The right to ask: ‘Are we free?'” With a wonderful lack of irony, the officers told him to stop writing. When he added one more letter they arrested him for criminal damage. The second year sociology and criminology student told the Daily Telegraph: “The whole reason I was writing in chalk was because I wanted to get my message across without causing lasting damage.” I was merely highlighting the point that we are losing civil liberties in the UK,” he added. “This is something we should be thinking about.” A point, of course, confirmed by the absurd behaviour of the police who, encouraged by this appalling government, now regard disobedience as a criminal matter.’
